The Simca story

Henri Pigozzi founded Simca in 1934 to assemble Fiats under licence at Nanterre. The 8 Sport of 1949, styled by Pininfarina and bodied by Facel, is one of the most beautiful French cars of the post-war years; the Aronde of 1951, then its P60 version, made Simca the second-largest French manufacturer. In 1954 Simca bought Ford SAF and its Poissy factory, and the V8 Vedette Versailles became the big Simca. The 1000 Coupé of 1962 and the 1200 S, styled at Bertone by Giugiaro, were the affordable coupés of the 1960s. Chrysler took control in 1963.
