New bumpers in 304 stainless steel, mirror polished, for the Austin-Healey Sprite Mk1 “Frogeye”, with front and rear overriders: a remanufactured set this little car deserves.

Its bulging headlamps, which earned it the nicknames Frogeye in Britain and Bugeye in the United States, were the result of a cost saving: they were meant to be retractable, but the mechanism proved too expensive and they were simply fixed to the bonnet as they were. Presented to the press in Monte Carlo in 1958, the Sprite does without a boot lid, luggage being slipped in behind the seats, and its one-piece bonnet tilts forward complete with the wings, giving the engine the kind of access every home mechanic dreams of.
